Scratch and Grounder are at the controls of the Robotnik Express, a train loaded with explosives for the doctor’s munitions works. Sonic and Tails try to stop it, are briefly captured, then escape and wrap the robots up like mummies.

Enter Da Bears, Big Griz and Mad Mike, two biker bears who free the bandaged robots in the belief that they are the heroes. The robots happily play along, describing the real Sonic as the bad guy, and the bears join the hunt for the hedgehog.

In the struggle the throttle breaks, and Sonic realises the runaway train is heading for a washed-out bridge above a buffalo village. He rigs the points with a tree to send it off down a gorge instead – and comes to see that his pranks on the confused bears have gone too far, finally setting them straight.

Key Moments

  • Sonic and Tails mummify Scratch and Grounder.
  • Da Bears side with the robots, convinced they are the heroes.
