Synopsis

When Sonic rescues a pretty hedgehog called Breezie from Scratch and Grounder, she plants a kiss on him, and he is instantly smitten. What he does not know is that Breezie is one of Robotnik’s robots, sent to run him ragged with errands while the doctor’s tunnelling machine drains the wells that keep Mobius’ towns alive.
Tails is suspicious from the start, and after Breezie dumps him in a river he spies on her plotting with Scratch and Grounder. Sonic, far too lovestruck to listen, keeps fetching chili dogs and writing her poetry – and walks straight into the robots’ giant magnet.
But the poem works on Breezie as well. She frees Sonic, admits what she is and tells him about Robotnik’s plan, and Sonic sends the doctor’s machine bouncing away on a bungee cord. Breezie leaves before they can say goodbye, with a note hoping they will meet again – which they do, in “Sonic the Matchmaker”.
Key Moments
- Breezie’s kiss puts love hearts in Sonic’s eyes.
- Tails tries to warn Sonic, who is too twitterpated to hear it.
- Breezie chooses Sonic over her maker and exposes Robotnik’s plan to drain the reservoir.

Sonic Says
Sonic explains that nobody is allowed to touch you in a way that makes you uncomfortable: say no, get away, and tell an adult you trust. The segment’s “that’s no good!” later took on a life of its own online.
Every episode’s segment is listed on the series page.
Trivia
- Breezie returns in Sonic the Matchmaker, where Robotnik Jr. falls for her.
- Its Sonic Says, in which Sonic tells kids what to do if someone touches them in a way that makes them uncomfortable, inspired the 2004–05 “Sonic Says” YTMND fad described by Sonic Retro.
- Between them, Bruce Shelly and Reed Shelly also wrote Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad, Birth of a Salesman, Tails’ New Home, Spaceman Sonic, Tails’ Tale, Hero of the Year and Fast and Easy.
