Synopsis
Big the Cat is snoozing in a forest with his frog Froggy when a purple Chaos Emerald drops out of the sky. A puddle of strange blue liquid gets to Froggy first: the frog swallows it, sprouts a tail, gulps down the Emerald too and hops off, with Big lumbering after him.
Six months have passed since Chaos Control dropped Angel Island and the Mystic Ruins on Earth instead of sending anyone home. Eggman has stayed out of sight, secretly building the Egg Carrier and a team of E-100 robots, each running on a captured animal. When Big asks Chris, Cream and Cheese to help find Froggy, they meet the blue liquid itself – Chaos, a watery creature that grows with every Emerald it absorbs.
Sonic, back from travelling on his own, joins the fight, and Knuckles turns up demanding to know what has become of the Master Emerald. Eggman reveals that he set Chaos free to help him conquer the world and feeds it the yellow and red Emeralds, but Sonic and Knuckles still beat the monster – and Eggman scoops it up and escapes.
