Synopsis
New Year’s morning finds the whole household, Vanilla included, out on the family yacht, ready to greet the year’s first dawn. It never arrives: the Egg Moon glides across the Sun and simply stops, leaving the world in an eclipse that won’t end.
Eggman marches into the President’s office with an apology – the damaged Egg Moon, he claims, is to blame – and, since repairs will take a year, a solution: a satellite to catch sunlight and Mirror Towers to beam it down into his Sunshine Balls. The public queues up to buy them.
Sonic doesn’t trust a word of it and knocks down a Mirror Tower. Footage of the attack reaches the media, and Sonic is declared a public menace. By nightfall an angry mob has surrounded the Thorndyke mansion, trapping his friends inside, while Sonic topples a second tower.
