Synopsis
Sonic and Tails find Eggman flat out in the Mystic Ruins: Chaos, he admits, has double-crossed him and wants the Emeralds’ power for itself. Before Knuckles can deal with the doctor, he and Sonic are pulled into a vision of the past – Chaos’s first appearance, and Tikal kneeling before the Master Emerald, pleading for help.
Chris, meanwhile, has been looking for Knuckles to hand over the white Chaos Emerald. He means well, but the gem completes the set: with all seven, Chaos becomes Perfect Chaos, a colossal water monster that floods and wrecks the heart of Station Square. Tikal’s spirit appears and explains that her sorrow had kept Chaos asleep until Eggman woke him.
Perfect Chaos spits out the Emeralds, drained of power, but the hopes of Sonic’s friends and the whole city bring them back to life, and Sonic turns Super. He shrugs off the monster’s attacks, shields his friends from its laser breath and plunges straight down its throat. Chaos shrinks back to its calm, small form, and as a group of Chao arrive, Tikal and Chaos fade away together, at peace.
