Synopsis

Knuckles has been wandering alone, and on his travels he rescued a treasure hunter named Hawk from some crumbling ruins. When he hears that Hawk has found a Chaos Emerald, he heads for Hawk’s home, Oriental City – where a bar brawl with the Bruiser Boys ends with a local crook, Li Yan, leading him into a trap.
Once Knuckles is free, the pair track the red Emerald to the tunnels under the subway, and Eggman, tipped off by Decoe and Bocoe in disguise, sends his robot E-91 Lady Ninja after it. In the scramble a cave-in buries the gem under tonnes of rock, so Knuckles fetches his Shovel Claws and digs it back out.
Rouge joins the chase too. Cornered, Hawk loses the Emerald to Lady Ninja, but when her static strings paralyse Knuckles, Hawk short-circuits her with a splash of water and Knuckles finishes her with an uppercut. He leaves the city with the gem, and as he floats away on a boat it shows him the Master Emerald’s altar and a woman’s voice speaking of the seven Chaos Emeralds.
