Synopsis

Eggman is lying low – quite literally, hiding on the sea bed in his damaged Egg Fort while the President’s search parties pass overhead. The heroes, meanwhile, are made official: the government sends passports and Social Security numbers for everyone, plus a stack of licences so Tails can fly anywhere, though Amy hates her passport photo.
They celebrate with a trip to the Sapphire Sea, where the X-Tornado senses a Chaos Emerald under the water and fans mob them for autographs. Hiring diving gear and a boat, they hear a local legend about a ship that sank with its treasure, and on the sea floor they find the wreck – where a troublesome crab turns out to be guarding the blue Emerald.
Eggman’s robot Clurken has other ideas. Underwater, the drag robs Sonic of his speed, and the robot hauls him up in its tentacles until Sam Speed roars in on a jet ski and Tails throws a Ring. Clurken is destroyed, but the wreck ends up buried under rocks. The dive-shop owner doesn’t mind: the legend was true, and the ship was his grandfather’s.
