Synopsis

Sonic’s birthday is three days away, and he heads for Sky City, home of the best parties. Tails has no present for him, and his attempts to earn money with odd jobs only make a mess. Finally he wanders into a junkyard and starts tinkering.
At the party, Scratch and Grounder try to crash it with their swipper-nappers, and Sonic turns a giant magnet on them. Then Sonic opens Tails’ present: a flying hover-glider. Professor Von Schlemmer sees the invention and invites Tails to become his research assistant on a machine to catch Robotnik.
Robotnik hears about it, captures the professor and takes his place. Under his direction, Tails unknowingly builds a device to catch Sonic instead. Sonic uses the hover-glider to rescue Tails and the professor and destroy the machine, and Tails proves what a talent he really is.
