Dulcy’s storyDragon’s NestProtectors
Dulcy is episode 7 of Season 2 of Sonic the Hedgehog, the ABC cartoon fans call SatAM, in the order of our original episode guide and the Shout! Factory DVDs. It was the seventh Season 2 episode to air, on 22 October 1994. It was written by Ben Hurst & Pat Allee and directed by Ron Myrick.
Synopsis
Dulcy is acting strangely, puffing smoke from her ears and drifting off into trances, and Sally works out why. She is going through a dragon rite of passage, drawn by dreams of her mother, Sabina, towards Dragon’s Nest, the dragons’ nesting ground. When the call comes, Dulcy flies straight out through the roof.
Robotnik has learned the same secret and wants to capture and roboticize the last dragons on Mobius. He catches one – not Dulcy, but a mother dragon who has just laid an egg that could hatch at any moment.
The Freedom Fighters rescue the mother before Robotnik can roboticize her and race her back to Knothole, where Bunnie has been keeping the egg warm by sitting on it. The baby is a “protector”, a special kind of dragon like Dulcy, on whom the future of all dragons depends. The mother flies off to a place Robotnik will never find, and Rotor’s gift of purple kneepads delights Dulcy.
Dulcy begins having dreams and urges to go to the dragon mating ground, Dragon’s Nest, as Robotnik tries to roboticize the remaining dragons. Can she save her species, or are the dragons done for?
