Robotnik’s Rival is episode 36 of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog in production order (production code 238-136), the order used by the DVDs, WildBrain’s official uploads and our episode guide. Synopsis

Robotnik is chasing Sonic and Tails across the countryside in a tank when a second tank opens fire on his. The two war machines knock each other out, and out of the other climbs Dr. Brandon Quark, a small red-haired scientist with duck feet from an old lab accident and his own plans for world domination.
The two villains trade insults – Robotnik insists on calling him “Quack” – and compare henchmen: Scratch and Grounder against Quark’s shape-shifting robot, D.U.F.U.S. Eventually they agree to join forces and capture Sonic together.
Working as a team is not in either man’s nature. Sonic knows it, and once captured he simply plays one genius off against the other until their rivalry blows the partnership apart – and sets him free.
