Robotnik unveils the Super Supreme Stopper Zapper and tests it on Scratch, who promptly turns to stone while Grounder entertains himself at his partner’s expense. Then the doctor fires both robots off to fetch Sonic by suppertime.

Sonic and Tails – the fox on his skateboard – are passing a squirrel village when the robots strike, and the zapper freezes Sonic solid. Now Tails is in charge: he has to keep the stone hedgehog out of Robotnik’s clutches and guard the villagers’ food stores on his own.

Tails rises to the occasion with an elaborate set of booby traps that leaves Scratch and Grounder bruised and baffled. When the robots finally corner him, Sonic is back on his feet just in time to finish the job.
