Pseudo Sonic is episode 22 of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog in production order (production code 238-122), the order used by the DVDs, WildBrain’s official uploads and our episode guide. It was the 5th episode to air in the 1993 syndicated run, on 10 September 1993. It was written by Cliff MacGillivray and directed by Kent Butterworth.
Synopsis
Robotnik builds Pseudo Sonic, a mechanical copy of the hedgehog, to wreck his good name. Its pilot is Lawrence, a lab rat who only goes along with the plan because Robotnik is holding his parents. Soon the news is full of “Sonic’s” crimes – while the real Sonic watches on TV.
When the two Sonics race each other, they tumble into a valley of poisonous flowers and both swell up with an itchy rash. Tails gets them to hospital, where Sonic falls asleep for what could be days – far too long to help Lawrence’s parents.
So Tails climbs into the Pseudo Sonic suit and sets off to save them, fooling Scratch and Grounder along the way. Sonic gets out of his sickbed to help; together they rescue the rat family, destroy the robot double and clear Sonic’s name, and it is Robotnik who ends up in hospital.
