Synopsis
The President’s aide announces on TV that the government is finally going after Eggman. Rouge and Topaz, fresh from finding the fortress’s engine room, are briefed on the plan: the navy and air force will hit the base from outside while a special unit plants charges within.
Away from the politics, Tails, Amy, Chris and his classmate Frances are out in the X-Tornado hunting a Chaos Emerald, which turns out to be buried under a cornfield. Chris is wearing new goggles from Mr. Stewart, unaware that they hide a tracker and a microphone – so his teacher hears every word and follows by car.
Eggman arrives to dig up the gem himself, bringing E-35 Funfun, a robot that whips up hurricane-force winds. Even in its X-Cyclone form, Tails’ plane is tossed aside, and the children cling on as the gusts grow stronger. Knuckles stows away in a fighter jet’s missile, Mr. Stewart anonymously phones the mansion for help, and Sonic sets off.
