Synopsis
A small ship is caught in the crossfire between the Blue Typhoon and the Metarex, and the crew follows it into a dangerous plasma cloud to pull it clear. The pilot is Decoe, and the whole thing is bait: he has led them straight to a Metarex fleet commanded by Dr. Eggman.
Eggman is working with the three remaining Metarex commanders now, though their readiness to sacrifice their own ships appals even him. His shield stops the Sonic Driver’s shot cold and seals the Typhoon off from the fleet. The ship takes a beating, Sonic and Knuckles are badly hurt, the Master Emerald runs low, and the shield will drop in five minutes.
That leaves Tails in charge, and he doesn’t feel up to it until Cosmo convinces him otherwise. His plan is to steer for a black hole inside the plasma cloud and turn the cloud against the enemy. Sonic and Knuckles recover just enough to fire the cannon at the vital moment, the Typhoon breaks free, and they tell their young captain he did a great job.
