Introduction to the Archie Series

The "Sonic the Hedgehog" comic series published by Archie Comics is the world's longest continually-running comic book series based on a video game, at 212 issues (as of June, 2010). The comic has been made by an all-star cast of talented writers, artists, inkers, and colourists, such as artists Manny Galán, Patrick "Spaz" Spaziante, Steven Butler, Josh Ray and James Fry, and writers such as Ken Penders, Karl Bollers, Mike Gallagher, and Mike Kanterovich.

Introduction to Sonic the Comic

Sonic the Comic was a twice-weekly comic, published every fourteen days, by Egmont-Fleetway in England. The series ran for 223 issues from 1993 to 1999 before being cancelled. The comic is fondly remembered by its fans for including non-sonic back-stories (such as Sparkster/Rocket Knight) as tie-ins for MegaDrive/Genesis games, similar to the Sonic the Hedgehog game adaptations that Archie Comics does. Though the series has been officially cancelled, it lives on today as a webcomic created by fans as an unofficial "spiritual successor" or unofficial sequel to the series at StC Online.co.uk.
