Sonic Boom is episode 2 of Season 1 of Sonic the Hedgehog, the ABC cartoon fans call SatAM, in the order of our original episode guide and the Shout! Factory DVDs. It was the second Season 1 episode to air, on 25 September 1993. It was written by Len Janson and directed by Dick Sebast.
Synopsis

Disguised inside a captured security SWATbot, Sally leads Sonic, Antoine and their fellow Freedom Fighter Cat into Robotnik’s underground air base to sabotage the launch data of his new Stealthbot fleet. While NICOLE is in the mainframe, a message flashes up addressed to “Bean” – the pet name only Sally’s father ever used – and it is traced to the Dark Swamp.
When Antoine blunders into the guards, Cat draws the SWATbots away so the others can escape, and is captured. Sonic goes back for him, while Sally, against his advice, takes a nervous Antoine into the swamp. The signal leads to the ruins of Ironlock Prison and straight into Robotnik’s trap, and Sonic has to outrun a Stealthbot missile to reach them.
The three fight their way out through the sewers, using a Power Ring to drive straight through a giant robot monster, and slip back into the Stealthbot hangar so Sally can reprogram the whole fleet. Cat’s cell is empty – Robotnik has already taken him. When the Stealthbots launch, they self-destruct, and Sonic signs off to Robotnik with a message: “That was for Cat!”
Antoine, Sally and Sonic investigate some clues about King Acorn during a mission with a fellow freedom fighter, and how he may still be alive. They investigate after the mission ends, but later realize that their friend sacrificed himself as a distraction to protect Antoine, Sonic, and Sally, and was captured and tortured by Robotnik. Sally and Antoine try to investigate whether or not the King is alive, while Sonic attempts a rescue, before joining up with his friends in the Dark Swamp. They ultimately learn that their friend was roboticized.
