Stopping for chili dogs in Mobius Corners, Sonic and Tails are puzzled when the whole town locks its doors at the sight of them. At Bert’s Diner, owner Bert Whoo, an owl, takes them for robots – the kind that come round demanding money.

Sure enough, two Badniks, Roller and Ball Hog, turn up to collect for Robotnik’s “Or Else” Protection Service. Sonic, disguised as a health inspector, declares that the old appliances must go and gets rid of them, and he and Tails promise Bert and his waitress Roxy that they will stand up to Robotnik.

Back at the fortress, Robotnik dispatches his two robots to Mobius Corners, interrupting them watching old footage on TV. When his henchbots prove no match for Sonic, the doctor steps in himself – and gangster-movie justice catches up with him.
