Synopsis

A research ship, the Seahawk, sends out an SOS and vanishes after a mysterious galleon attacks it – with Topaz aboard. Meanwhile Knuckles has found what may be the oldest map in the world, and Eggman sends Decoe and Bocoe, disguised as mummies, to steal it from the museum.
Dr. Cadberry, the scholar looking after the map, tells the heroes that it shows the lost continent of Murasia and the “belly button of the world”, where chains of undersea volcanoes meet. When they reach the island there, Eggman’s huge galleon-shaped battleship rises from the sea and opens fire, and he explains his plan: stir up the volcanoes and destroy the planet.
Sonic attacks but falls into the water, and Chris dives in to save him. G.U.N. joins the battle in a flying fortress that turns out to be Eggman’s old Egg Fort, and when Eggman reveals that the Seahawk’s crew are his hostages, Rouge goes in to rescue Topaz. Sonic and Knuckles smash Eggman’s final weapon, but the doctor escapes into the volcano.
