Synopsis
The tournament rolls on. Chris forfeits rather than face Amy or Rouge, Mr. Stewart flees when a reporter recognises him, and Emerl beats Lucky without laying a finger on him. In the final, Knuckles has the upper hand until Emerl turns Sonic’s own Spin Attack on him, and Knuckles concedes the match – and the red Chaos Emerald – to the robot.
The moment Emerl takes the prize, the gem’s power sends him berserk. He attacks everyone in the stadium, and whatever Sonic, Knuckles and the others throw at him, he copies and hurls straight back.
It is Chuck who spots the flaw: Emerl can only copy one move at a time. So Cream and Cheese attack together, and Emerl doesn’t fight back. Their last kick sends him over the edge into the sea; as he falls he remembers meeting Cream and her friends, and sheds a tear before he explodes.
