Exploring the sewers, Manic glimpses what looks like Queen Aleena, who drops a letter as she hurries away. It is an invitation for Sonia to claim Worst Castle, left to her by a cousin called Albert. Sonia is thrilled at the idea of a castle headquarters and sets off with Manic; Sonic decides to sit this one out. The “Queen” was Dingo in disguise, and cousin Albert does not exist.

Worst Castle lives up to its name, with creepy rooms, creatures in the beds and a nervous bat caretaker named Belok and his owl, Hooter. Sonia keeps catching sight of her mother, and the mirror in her room turns out to be a doorway to somewhere else. Sonic, arriving later in new anti-gravity shoes, is nearly flattened by a falling chandelier.

Belok confesses that Sleet forced him to help by threatening to eat Hooter, and warns that a missile strike is on its way. Sonic finds Sonia lost inside the mirror world, and the hedgehogs and Belok escape through it as the castle is destroyed. What Manic took for a dream, his mother’s touch in the night, was real: Aleena was there, watching her children with tears in her eyes.

The Song: “Let’s Do It to It”

“Let’s Do It to It” is the band at its most upbeat, a rallying song for siblings getting on with the job.

Key Moments
